The design of this mala is “Praise of Lotus”. Specially designed and made to perform the Six-syllable “Om mani padme hum” mantra in Tibetan Buddhism.
In Tibetan Buddhism, this is the mantra to praise the Avalokiteśvara Buddha. It is most ubiquitous mantra and the most popular form of religious practice, The literal meaning in English has been expressed as “praise to the jewel in the lotus”.
The knotted mala is made of white and green Chinese Hetian nephrite jade beads, and antique Tibetan coral beads. The beautiful color combination of those beads represents the spirit of enlightenment.
The 108 genuine white jade beads were selected from two high quality white nephrite jade (Chinese Hetian jade) necklaces. Those beads have attractive translucency and luster, please see the zoomed photos for details.
The dimension of the beads is approximately 6.5mm. They came with jade certificate of Chinese jade jewelry authenticity.
The master beads are three genuine green Hetian nephrite jade beads. They are untreated, in evenly shades of medium green color. Half transparent, with very little fibrous and few spot inclusions that natural jade usually has. Measure approximately 9.5mm in dimension.
The decoration beads are antique genuine Angelskin coral beads and some 14K gold filled silver beads.
The guru bead has the mantra “Om Mani Pädme Hum” craved on as the “Mani Stone” to help recitation of the mantra.
The pendant bead is one large magnificent genuine old Tibetan salmon red coral bead(pre-1900). It’s originally from one old Tibetan necklace we acquired from Khampa. And this one is the best of all. The surface of the bead is smooth, the natural salmon color is full and live, like a lotus flower softly shining in the sunlight. The bead is carved to round shape, measured 15mm in size.
The tussle string is made of small gold filled silver beads and two 8mm green Hetian nephrite beads.
The whole knotted mala necklace is 90cm long.
